Weddings are unique and joyful moments, and Carly and Taz’s winter wedding was a perfect example. With the breath taking beauty of Beaulieu Abbey and the whimsical charm of the Domus, their special day was filled with warmth, love, and memorable moments.
Both venues provided an unforgettable experience, setting the stage for cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Beaulieu Abbey: A Picturesque Ceremony
Tucked away in the New Forest, Beaulieu Abbey offers a stunning backdrop steeped in history. Its beautiful architecture creates a romantic atmosphere, making it an ideal location for wedding ceremonies.
The ceremony was elegantly simple, framed by the abbey’s ancient stone walls. The serene atmosphere allowed Carly and Taz to connect deeply with each other as they exchanged their vows, making this moment truly special.
The venue can be quite restrictive with photographers so it's good to ensure your photographer is appraised of the rules of the abbey before shooting there. Fortunately, after the ceremony, the vicar extended a rare invitation for a private photo session inside the abbey. This cherished opportunity allowed Carly and Taz to capture intimate moments, reflecting on the significance of their vows amid the venue's beauty.
The Domus: A Quirky Reception Venue
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at the Domus, next door to the abbey and situated on the grounds of the Beaulieu Motor Museum. This unusual venue is famous for its distinctive character. The ground floor showcases intriguing exhibits highlighting the region's rich history, while the upper level transforms into a vibrant dining and dancing space.
As guests arrived, they were welcomed into a lively atmosphere adorned with medieval banners that hung from the stone walls, evoking the feel of a grand castle. This enchanting setting served as the perfect backdrop for Carly and Taz’s reception, allowing everyone to mingle, enjoy delicious food, and revel in the joyous ambiance.
The great hall (as I like to call it given that it reminds me of Hogwarts), looked cosy with the fire lit and the fireplace became a bit of a focal point for guests.
Additionally, the Domus grounds feature beautifully landscaped gardens with water fountains and romantic archways, perfect for newlyweds to capture beautiful photos. Carly and Taz participated in the love lock tradition here, fastening a lock to a tree symbolizing their everlasting love, a special moment that resonated with many of their guests. As you can see they had an immense amount of fun getting their lock fastened om to the branch.
A Surprise Italian Tradition
As the evening unfolded, the festivities took an exciting turn. During their first dance as a married couple, guests gathered around Carly and Taz, forming a supportive circle.
The room buzzed with energy as friends and family showered them with colourful paper streamers, and wrapping the couple, honouring the Italian wedding tradition " This lively event symbolically wrapped the couple in love and happiness, making for an extraordinary experience. The energy in the room was electric, filled with laughter and joy as everyone participated in this memorable moment.
The celebration continued late into the night, with dancing, laughter, and an overall sense of community surrounding the newlyweds. Carly and Taz’s wedding was not only about their union but also about the love shared by everyone present.
Treasured Memories
Carly and Taz’s winter wedding at Beaulieu Abbey and the Domus was a stunning celebration filled with joy and love. From the solemnity of their ceremony to the enchanting reception, every moment reflected their love story.
With the breathtaking backdrop of the abbey and the quirky charm of the Domus, this wedding offered a perfect balance of romance and celebration. The personal touches, such as their love lock and the delightful Italian tradition, made their day all the more meaningful.
Winter weddings can be tricky for photographers as we are limited with the amount of day light hours we have to play with. I always organise the itinerary to make the most of the time and when natural light is gone I like to utilise my off camera lighting options to achieve more creative shots. This backlit shot was achieved with a combination of my own LED lighting and the videographer's continuous light along with a can of atmosphere spray and the help of a willing guest.
As they begin their journey together, Carly and Taz can treasure their winter wedding as one of life’s significant milestones, celebrated with family and friends in a truly magical setting. The memories from this day will be cherished for years, reminding them of the love that surrounds them.
